Plain-English summary: Rocket City is a browser game. We don't ask you to sign up, we don't use tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data. What little we measure is anonymous and aggregate.
What we collect
- Anonymous usage analytics (via Vercel Web Analytics — cookie-free): page views, approximate region, device type, and in-game events like session length, places visited, and missions played. This is aggregate and cannot identify you.
- Gameplay data stored only in your browser (localStorage): your mission progress, best times, chosen character, and a short "callsign"/initials you enter for leaderboards. This never leaves your device except as noted below.
- Newsletter email (only if you sign up): if you enter your email to get new-game and local-news alerts, we store that email address to contact you. We don't sell or share it, and every message includes an unsubscribe link. You can ask us to remove you anytime.
- Leaderboard entries: when you set a race time or hunt score, your callsign (initials or a game-assigned name like "ROCKET-42") and the score are sent to our leaderboard server. No personal information is attached.
- Multiplayer position data: when you turn multiplayer on, your in-game position and chosen emoji reactions are relayed to other current players in real time. Nothing is stored after the session.
What we do NOT collect
- No accounts, names, emails, or passwords.
- No tracking cookies or cross-site advertising identifiers.
- No precise real-world location (the game uses fixed Huntsville coordinates, not your device GPS).
Third-party services
- Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles — the 3D map imagery. Your use is also subject to Google Maps Platform Terms and Google's Privacy Policy.
- OpenStreetMap / DeFlock — building, road, and public ALPR-camera data (ODbL).
- Vercel — hosting and cookie-free analytics.
- Cloudflare — the multiplayer and leaderboard servers.
Children
The game is general-audience and collects no personal information, so it does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Your choices
Clear your browser's site data to erase all locally stored progress. Leave multiplayer off to relay nothing. There are no accounts to delete.
